HUMANE SOCIETY OF WILKES SNAP (spay/neuter assistance program) Pre-registration: Wilkes County Public Library every Tuesday evening from 6:00pm until 7:00pm.
After many years of helping with Spay/Neuter vouchers (used with
local vets towards regular cost), and a successful year of transporting
animals to Hickory (SNIP), the Humane Society of Wilkes is excited to
have a new program that will help even more people to reduce the
overpopulation here in Wilkes County. After receiving a proposal from
Animal Hospital of Wilkes, Elkin VeterinaryHospital, Riverview Veterinary
Hospital, and Wilkes Veterinary Hospital,and many meetings :-), the Board
voted unanimously to cease the existing programs and to adopt the following
SNAP fees for incomes under $35,000
DOGS
Male neuter <100 lb. = $55
Male neuter >100 lb. = $70
Cryptorchid (flank) additional = $10
Cryptorchid (abdominal) additional = $40
Female spay <100 lb. = $55
Female spay >100 lb. = $70
Pregnant female spay <100 lb. = $70
Pregnant female spay >100 lb. = $90
Hernia repair – umbilical = $15
Hernia repair – inguinal = $25
Rabies vaccine = $7
(Voucher costs for income less than $15,000 or greater than $35,000 are $20 for male dogs and $30 for female dogs)
CATS
Male neuter = $40
Cryptorchid (flank) additional = $10
Cryptorchid (abdominal) additional = $35
Female spay = $50
Pregnant female spay = $60
Hernia repair – umbilical = $10
Hernia repair – inguinal = $20
Rabies vaccine = $7
Feral cat package (rabies, spay/neuter, ear tip) = $45
(Voucher costs for income less than $15,000 or greater than
$35,000 are $15 for male cats and $20 for female cats)
Pets that are currently in heat will be charged an additional
$5 and alladditional charges are to be paid to the vet upon pick up from
surgery.
Humane Society will seek seeking grants to make the program more
effective.
